"No Show" Drug Screen Next Steps

This article describes the next steps when a candidate fails to show up for their drug screen.

Updated yesterday

*Important*
If you are a candidate, please contact your hiring company directly, as they will have to administer a new drug screen on your behalf. Yardstik cannot do this for you on an individual request.

Retesting

  1. Please decide if you would like to give the candidate another opportunity to take a drug test. If not, you have the option to Pre-adverse the current report and begin the adverse action process.

If you want to retest, you can leave the current report in Consider status, and order a new standalone drug screen (no other screenings on the report) for the candidate.

*To streamline drug-screen reorders, use a standalone drug-screen package so only the drug-screen report is requested—not the full report.
If you do not have a standalone drug screen package for your account, please contact us to set one up!*

  2. Once the standalone test has reached a status of Clear or Consider, you can action on the original report how you deem fit. For example, if the retest comes back as Clear, you could Proceed the prior report. Or, if the retest returns as Consider, you could Pre-adverse the original report. Decisioning is entirely up to you and what is acceptable for your hiring process.

Canceling a Drug Screen

If you are looking to cancel a drug screen, it requires the standalone drug screen (no other screenings on the report) to be in Consider, and the timeframe to be expired.

The "Reason for Decision" must read as one of the two statements below:

  • "Candidate didn’t choose a clinic before the timeframe expired on [MM, DD, YYYY]"

  • "Candidate didn’t visit the clinic before the timeframe expired on [MM, DD, YYYY]"

If this is the case, please reach out to Yardstik support in order to finalize the cancellation at [email protected].
