Yardstik’s eScreen Integration

Updated over a month ago

We’re excited to share that Yardstik has launched a direct integration with eScreen — the system that powers our drug screening services.

This upgrade streamlines the process for you and your candidates, offering more visibility, fewer manual steps, and better reliability across the board.

🚀 What’s New

1. Real-Time Progress Updates

Track the real-world status of your candidate’s drug screen right inside Yardstik — from clinic selection to sample collection and results.
No more waiting for manual updates or PDF-only reports.

2. Choose Clinics for Your Candidates

Admins can now select the collection site for candidates directly in Yardstik, eliminating confusion and reducing no-shows.

3. Results in the Yardstik UI

You’ll now see drug screen results directly in your dashboard, alongside other background check components.
You’ll still receive the official PDF, but the key information will appear in-app.

⚙️ What’s Changing

As part of this update, we’re simplifying several workflows to make the experience more consistent, reliable, and transparent.

🧾 Re-Ordering (“Re-Dispatching”) Drug Screens

When a candidate misses their appointment, we will no longer re-dispatch the same drug screen order.

Instead, you can:

  • Order a new standalone drug screen, or

  • Use the Rescreen Import feature to resend an invitation to the same candidate.

💡 Because you and your candidates will now have clearer visibility and easier clinic selection, we expect far fewer no-shows.

❌ Canceling Drug Screens

We’ve simplified our cancellation process to avoid confusion and billing issues.

We will no longer cancel drug screens that:

  • Are part of a background check package

  • Are still within their testing timeframe

  • Have issues at the collection site (e.g., lost samples, missing signatures, insufficient quantity, etc.)

The only exception:
We can cancel a standalone drug screen after it has expired if the candidate did not attend.

⚠️ Adverse Action (Pre-Adverse Modal) Updates

We’ve simplified the Pre-Adverse Action modal for clarity.

  • The dropdown list of “Violations” has been removed (these were previously populated by our old system).

  • You’ll now enter the reason manually — for example: “Positive drug test.”

  • The copy has been updated to use clearer, more human-friendly language.

⏱ Timeframe and Expiration Rules

Every Yardstik account now has its own configurable timeframe settings for drug screens, which control how long a candidate has to:

  1. Choose a clinic

  2. Attend their appointment

  3. Provide their sample

  • Default timeframe: 14 business days

  • Custom settings: You can request shorter durations (e.g., 3–5 business days) through your Customer Success Manager.

Once a timeframe expires, Yardstik automatically updates the report status and notifies your team.

🏥 Out-of-Network Clinics

By default, we limit candidates to choose in-network clinics. If you'd also like to allow candidates to choose out-of-network clinics, please contact Yardstik support at [email protected].

Allowing candidates to choose out-of-network clinics can increase scheduling flexibility.

Please note:

  • Out-of-network clinics often charge higher fees.

  • Yardstik will now identify these and pass through the costs accurately to your billing.

🧾 What You Need to Do

To ensure a smooth transition:

  1. Your account’s timeframe settings (default: 14 business days). This setting can be adjusted depending on your preference. Please contact Yardstik support ([email protected]), if you'd like further information on your current timeframe, or would like to change it.

  2. Decide if you want to allow out-of-network clinics or restrict to in-network only.

  3. Inform your team that “Re-dispatch” and “Cancel” workflows have changed.
