Paylocity Integration

Overview Yardstik integrates directly with Paylocity, allowing your team to order and track background checks without leaving Paylocity. This article covers how to set up the integration and how to order background checks for candidates and employees.

What You Can Do

With the Yardstik + Paylocity integration, admins can:

  • Order invite-based background checks from Paylocity’s Recruiting module (for candidates) or HR & Payroll module (for employees)

  • View real-time screening order statuses: Waiting on Candidate, In Progress, Hold, Complete, and more

  • See results for completed screenings (e.g., Clear, Proceed, Final Adverse)

  • Click through to full report details in Yardstik

  • Automatically sync screening packages from Yardstik to Paylocity

Integration Setup

Yardstik and Paylocity connect via Paylocity’s Company ID. You’ll enter your Paylocity Company ID in Yardstik, and Yardstik will handle the rest automatically.

  1. Log into the Yardstik Account App

  2. Navigate to Developer Tools > Integrations

  3. Click Get Started on the Paylocity integration card

  4. Enter your Paylocity Company ID, click Update, and then toggle on the integration

  5. Yardstik automatically registers the webhook and syncs your screening packages to Paylocity

  6. Log into Paylocity to start ordering background checks from Yardstik


Ordering Background Checks from Paylocity

Background checks can be ordered for both candidates (from the Recruiting module) and employees (from the HR & Payroll module).

For a Candidate (Recruiting Module)

  1. Log into Paylocity and navigate to Recruiting

  2. Click on a Job Title

  3. Click on a Talent’s name

  4. Click the Evaluations tab

  5. Click Order Background Check

  6. Select a Background Check Package — these are synced from your Yardstik account

  7. Read the Obligations of Users under the FCRA information and check the certification box

  8. Click Order

For an Employee (HR & Payroll Module)

  1. Log into Paylocity and navigate to HR & Payroll

  2. Click on an Employee’s Last Name

  3. Click the Personal tab

  4. Click the Work Auth sub-tab

  5. Click Show Private Data

  6. Click Order Background Check

  7. Select a Background Check Package — these are synced from your Yardstik account

  8. Read the Obligations of Users under the FCRA information and check the certification box

  9. Click Order


What Happens After Ordering

Once you place an order, Paylocity sends it to Yardstik. Yardstik creates the candidate record and sends them an invitation to complete their background check.

  • The screening order status in Paylocity will show Waiting on Candidate until the candidate completes their invitation

  • Once the candidate submits their information, the status changes to In Progress

  • The Yardstik Report and Screening statuses will continue to update in Paylocity as the report progresses

  • Click View in Yardstik at any time to see full report details

Note: Because Paylocity does not pass SSN or date of birth, all background checks ordered through this integration are invite-based. The candidate will receive an invitation to provide their information directly to Yardstik.
